Kathmandu— Golden Peak, Eden Bridge Academy (EBA) and defending champion RIBS claimed the top spots in their respective categories at the fifth KMC Inter-School Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
Golden Peak won the Senior Boys title, EBA took the Junior Boys crown and RIBS retained the Senior Girls championship. Golden Peak and EBA remained undefeated, while RIBS lost one group stage match but came back strong in the final.
In the Senior Boys final at KMC in Budhanagar, Golden Pick defeated Bal Diksha Sadan 48–45. Vijay Tamang led the team with 21 points.
The Junior Boys final saw EBA beat Greenfield 41–21, with Digvijay Puri scoring 11 points.
In the Senior Girls category, RIBS overcame Chelsea World School 25–21, with Supriya Mall contributing 11 points. The win also avenged their earlier group stage loss to Chelsea.
The top scorers, Vijay Tamang, Digvijay Puri and Supriya Malla, were named Most Valuable Players in their respective categories. The Spirit of KMC Basketball Award went to Nepal Central (Senior Boys), Manang Children (Senior Girls) and Golden Flower (Junior Boys).
Winners and awardees were presented trophies and certificates by Urmila Nepal, Bagmati Province Youth and Sports Minister, Vice President of PABSON Kishor Gautam, KMC Executive Director Dhurba Bhattarai Associate Professor Dr. Manoj kumar Thapa and Principal Dwarikanath Amgain.
The tournament, which began on December 27, featured 12 teams each in the Senior and Junior Boys categories and eight teams in the Senior Girls category.
