Sri Lanka announce squad for T20I series against India

Sri Lanka have announced a 15 member squad for their upcoming T20I tour of India as the team begins its build-up to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England.

Chamari Athapaththu will continue to lead the side, with experienced batter Harshitha Samarawickrama appointed as vice-captain. The series is seen as a key step in Sri Lanka’s preparations, offering valuable match time against strong opposition in Indian conditions.

The squad includes a mix of experience and youth. Seventeen-year-old ambidextrous spinner Shashini Gimhani returns to the national setup for the first time since August 2024, while Nimesha Madushani has earned her maiden call-up. The batting group features regulars such as Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunaratne, Nilakshika De Silva and Kavisha Dilhari, while the bowling attack is strengthened by Inoka Ranaweera, Rashmika Sewwandi and Malki Madara.

The five-match T20I series will begin on December 21 in Visakhapatnam, which will also host the second and third matches. The final two games will be played in Thiruvananthapuram.
