Kathmandu — Sunny Singh Sunar of the Nepal Army, Anisha Tamang of the Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Army’s Sapana Aidi won their respective titles at the 24th National Men’s Open and 18th National Women’s Weight Category Full Contact Karate Championship held at the National Sports Council covered hall in Tripureshwor on Monday.
Sunny defeated fellow Army fighter Prabin Majhi in the men’s open weight final. Bhupendra Oli of the Nepal Army finished third, while Bishnu Thapa Magar placed fourth.
In the women’s under-55 kg final, Anisha beat Nepal Army’s Bindu Chaudhary. KWW’s Supriya Gurung finished third and APF’s Nisha Sunuwar fourth.
Sapana won the women’s over-55 kg title after defeating APF’s Sumitra Nagarkoti. KWW’s Rasila Shrestha placed third, while Nepal Army’s Apsara Kumal finished fourth.
In the sixth Bajra Fight, Killer Fight Club’s Suman Yakha Rai won the men’s under-62 kg title, defeating Nepal Army’s Janak Bahadur Dhami. In the men’s under-55kg final, KWW’s Mohammad Sanula Ansari defeated IKE’s Sandesh Tamang.
Nepal Army’s Manita Rai won the women’s under-46kg title after beating KWW’s Shivani Ale Magar in the final.
About 100 athletes from all seven provinces, along with teams from the Nepal Army and APF, competed in the championship.
